Priced Upfront · Diagnosed Right
A dripping showerhead. A handle that won't cooperate. Temperature swings that make every shower a gamble. Most of these trace back to the cartridge — a worn part inside the valve that controls flow and temperature. We diagnose the real problem, quote the fix in writing, and only do what's needed.
Dripping showerhead or tub spout
Handle stiff, loose, or hard to turn
Temperature won't hold or swings hot and cold
Weak water pressure at the showerhead
Tub spout leaking during a shower
Diverter stuck or won't redirect water to the showerhead
Cartridge replacement — same-day in most cases
When a New Cartridge Isn't Enough
Sometimes the cartridge isn't the problem — the valve body is. Cartridges can corrode so badly that removal damages the valve itself. And sometimes the valve works fine but there's a better one available — a thermostatic valve lets you set your temperature once and step in every time, a pressure-balancing valve stops the toilet flush from ruining your shower. We replace valves cleanly and correctly, and if you're upgrading, we'll walk you through your options before we touch anything.
Valve body damaged during cartridge removal
Corroded or cracked valve beyond repair
Old three-handle systems ready for a modern single-handle upgrade
Upgrade to a pressure-balancing valve — stops temperature swings when toilets flush or taps run
Upgrade to a thermostatic valve — set your temperature once, step in every time
Written upfront price before any wall access begins

You get a written quote before a single tool comes out. The price you approve is the price on the invoice. No "it got complicated" at the end. One Guelph homeowner put it best: "Transparent in terms of options, pricing and timing." That's the standard on every job.
A dripping shower is annoying. A valve leaking inside the wall is urgent. Jaytech is typically on-site the same day — often within a couple of hours of your call. You get a real arrival time when you book, not a four-hour window and a maybe.
If your shower needs a cartridge, we'll tell you. If the valve is too far gone and a replacement makes more sense, we'll explain why — and show you your options, including upgrades worth considering. What we won't do is push a bigger job when a simple fix will do.
Guelph's older homes come with surprises — three-handle valves that haven't been touched in decades, cartridges corroded into the valve body, cast iron tub surrounds that need careful handling. Our technicians have seen it all and come prepared for
You'll know the name of the technician arriving at your door. You'll see their photo before they knock. The same people your neighbours recommend.
We protect your tub surround, sweep up, and leave your bathroom the way we found it. It sounds basic. You'd be surprised how rare it is.
Matt was great. Efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. He replaced our old toilet, serviced our tankless water heater and took video imaging of our system to the main city sewer. Transparent in providing quotes before work and no change to pricing. Would recommend to others without reservation

We’ve used JayTech twice now and have been completely satisfied. They are really efficient at getting a technician out to the house……each time was the same day. Everyone we talked to was very friendly and made it a great experience! It’s a refreshing change from other experiences with other companies! Highly recommend!

Matt and Cayden did a great job fixing our leaky toilet. Super quick and easy to work with.

Jaytech plumbing is amazing. They came 30 min after I called. Matt showed up right on time and was extremely helpful. He helped with my issue with honesty and great customer service. I would definitely recommend and use them again in the future.

Connor did a neat and thorough job of installing a new toilet and bathroom taps, as well as replacing shut of valves. He took his time and everything looks great.

Tom was great! Very friendly and obviously a very skilled professional. He did a great job of using his creative genius in finding a way to extract our stubborn bathtub drain and leaving a glistening new one in its place! Thanks JayTech Plumbing for the quick service too!!

Almost always a worn cartridge. The cartridge is the part inside your valve that controls water flow — when it wears out, it can't fully stop the water. In most cases we replace it same day. If the cartridge removal has damaged the valve body, we'll tell you before proceeding and quote a valve replacement instead.
Yes, and it's one of the most common complaints we hear. It means your valve isn't pressure-balancing properly — either the cartridge is failing, or you have an older valve that doesn't have that feature at all. A cartridge swap fixes it in many cases. If you want a permanent solution, a pressure-balancing valve upgrade stops it entirely.
The cartridge is a replaceable part inside the valve. Most repairs start there — it's less invasive and less expensive. A valve replacement is needed when the valve body itself is damaged, corroded, or when the cartridge is no longer available for that model. Sometimes during cartridge removal on an older valve, the body gets scarred — we'll tell you if that happens before we go further.
A thermostatic valve lets you set your preferred water temperature once. Every time you turn on the shower it comes out at that temperature — no adjusting, no waiting, no surprises. It's particularly popular with families with young kids or anyone who wants a more consistent, comfortable shower. We'll walk you through whether your existing plumbing can support one and what it involves.
That's a failing diverter. The diverter is the mechanism that redirects water from the tub up to the showerhead — when it wears out, water splits between both. In tub-spout diverters it's often a simple fix. In wall-mounted diverters it may be part of a larger valve repair. Either way, diagnosable on the first visit.
Usually not. A stiff handle is most often mineral buildup on the cartridge — Guelph's hard water accelerates this. A cartridge replacement typically solves it. If the valve body itself is corroded or the threads are stripped, we'll let you know.

Guelph's hard water is particularly hard on shower valves and cartridges. Mineral deposits build up inside the valve over time — stiffening handles, choking water pressure, and accelerating cartridge wear. Homes that have gone without a water softener for years often find their shower fixtures failing well ahead of schedule. A cartridge swap fixes the immediate problem. A water softener prevents the next one.
Guelph's older homes add another layer. Three-handle shower systems — a separate hot, cold, and diverter — were standard in homes built before the 1990s. Many of those valves haven't been serviced in decades. The cartridges are often discontinued, and removal can damage a valve body that was already fragile. Jaytech technicians know what they're walking into in these homes — and they come equipped to handle it, including valve replacement when that's the right call.
We serve homeowners across Guelph, from Kortright Hills and Westminster Woods to Hanlon Creek, Stone Road, and downtown. We're also the shower plumbers that Kitchener, Cambridge, and Waterloo homeowners call when they want someone they can trust.
Jaytech answers the phone, gives you a real arrival time, and is usually there the same day. Written price before we start. Home left clean when we leave.
