Kitchen · Bathroom · Main Line
There's a significant difference between a hardware store rental and what Jaytech brings. We use a Milwaukee M18 for smaller drains and a K60 sectional machine for larger lines — 7/8" cable, 600 RPM, and the torque to cut through roots, grease, and years of buildup. Operated by a plumber who understands your home's pipe layout, not just the tool.
That last part matters more than most people realise. Drain snaking is one of the most technically demanding things a plumber does. Working blind, without a clear understanding of how your drain system is laid out, is how clogs get pushed further into the main line — or cables end up going the wrong direction entirely.

Confirm It's Clear · Find the Real Cause
Snaking clears a blockage. A camera tells you whether the drain is actually healthy or just temporarily open. After clearing, we send a camera through to confirm clearance and inspect the pipe interior — roots, cracks, corrosion, bellied sections. What you see on the screen is what we base any further recommendation on. Nothing is suggested without footage to support it.
Strongly recommended for any recurring clog, any older home with cast iron, and any situation where you want to know what you're actually working with before it becomes a bigger problem.

When It Goes Deeper Than the Stack
Sometimes a drain can't be cleared — because the pipe itself has failed. Cracked cast iron, collapsed clay, root-infiltrated sections, or pipe that has lost its slope can't be snaked into health. They need replacing.
If the camera shows replacement is needed, Jaytech is ready to go — same visit if possible. Written price before scope changes. Snaking fee credited toward the replacement. And the job gets finished, same day or first thing the following morning.
If your home has older cast iron, clay, or cement drain pipe, learn more about what's involved on our pipe replacement page:

Same day or next morning — never left unfinished
They partially dissolve clogs while corroding the pipe around them. The clog comes back. The pipe is weaker. If you've already poured chemicals, mention it when you call — it changes how we approach the job.
A 25-foot ¼" hand-crank cable is fine for hair behind a trap. For a real clog, it's the wrong tool entirely. Jaytech runs 7/8" cable at 600 RPM with the torque to cut through roots and decades of buildup. Not comparable.
The cable is the easy part. Knowing your home's drain layout is the hard part. Without it, cables go up vent stacks instead of down drains. One blocked sink becomes a blocked house. In an older home, one wrong move cracks a pipe — and now the job is significantly larger than it was an hour ago.
The bottom line: Professional drain cleaning costs more than a rental snake because it's worth more. You're paying for experience that understands your home's plumbing, equipment that actually clears the blockage, and a plumber who is there to handle whatever comes next — whether that's a cleared drain or a conversation about the pipe behind it.
You get a written quote before a single tool comes out. The price you approve is the price on the invoice. No "it got complicated" surprises at the end.
A blocked drain isn't something you want to sit with. Jaytech is typically on-site the same day — often within a couple of hours of your call. You get a real arrival time when you book, not a four-hour window and a maybe.
Jaytech's technicians know Guelph's older homes — the pipe layouts, the materials, the quirks of cast iron systems decades old. That knowledge is what separates a cleared drain from an expensive afternoon.
You'll know the name of the technician arriving at your door. You'll see their photo before they knock. No mystery vans, no rotating strangers — the same people your neighbours recommend.
We're not a franchise with a call center in another country. We're local — and we'll still be here for your next job, so you can count on the same reliable service when you need it.
Drain work is dirty. What we control is what we leave behind — which is nothing. We sweep up, wipe down, and leave your home the way we found it.
How Most Plumbers Do It
Drain snaking can take one hour. It can take five. With hourly pricing, you don't know what you're paying until the job is done. Every complication — a blocked vent, a tough clog, an extra access point — adds time, and time adds cost. You find out at the end.
How Jaytech Does It
Jaytech quotes the job before it starts. One number — whether the drain clears in 45 minutes or we're still at it four hours later. That price is our commitment to see it through. You're not watching the clock. We're just working.
If it goes further than snaking — we quote this upfront too. If the camera shows a pipe that needs replacing, we don't present you with a bill for the work we've done and leave you stranded. We quote the full replacement on-site, in writing, before anything changes. Most jobs start within a day — often the same visit. You'll know exactly what you're looking at before you decide.
Matt was great. Efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. He replaced our old toilet, serviced our tankless water heater and took video imaging of our system to the main city sewer. Transparent in providing quotes before work and no change to pricing. Would recommend to others without reservation

We’ve used JayTech twice now and have been completely satisfied. They are really efficient at getting a technician out to the house……each time was the same day. Everyone we talked to was very friendly and made it a great experience! It’s a refreshing change from other experiences with other companies! Highly recommend!

Matt and Cayden did a great job fixing our leaky toilet. Super quick and easy to work with.

Jaytech plumbing is amazing. They came 30 min after I called. Matt showed up right on time and was extremely helpful. He helped with my issue with honesty and great customer service. I would definitely recommend and use them again in the future.

Connor did a neat and thorough job of installing a new toilet and bathroom taps, as well as replacing shut of valves. He took his time and everything looks great.

Tom was great! Very friendly and obviously a very skilled professional. He did a great job of using his creative genius in finding a way to extract our stubborn bathtub drain and leaving a glistening new one in its place! Thanks JayTech Plumbing for the quick service too!!

Usually same day, often within a couple of hours. Call (519) 780-0088 and we'll give you a real arrival time on the spot.
You can — and you can even rent equipment similar to what we use. The tool isn't the hard part. Knowing your home's drain layout before the cable goes in is. Without that, cables travel up vent stacks instead of down drains, clogs get pushed further into the main line, and in an older home, one wrong move cracks a pipe that was already fragile. The rental is available to anyone. The experience isn't.
With repeated use, yes. They partially dissolve clogs while corroding metal pipe from the inside — copper pits, cast iron weakens. In a fully blocked drain the chemical can't rinse away. The clog returns and the pipe is worse than before. If you've already poured chemicals, let us know when you call.
Per job, not per hour. You get a written price before we start — snaking only, snaking plus camera, or replacement if needed. The price you approve is the price on your invoice.
A drain that keeps coming back usually means the pipe itself has a problem — corroded cast iron, root intrusion, or a section that has lost its slope. Snaking clears the symptom. A camera after clearing shows what's actually causing it.
