My name is Tom Melnychuk. I’ve been in the plumbing wholesale industry in South Western Ontario for 20 years, the last 14 years with Marks Supply. I am a guest author today, writing on why Dual Flush Toilets will become a thing of the past.
Dual flush closets (toilets) have been a hot topic over the past several years. We still continually get asked for dual flush toilets almost every week. For those of you not completely clear, a dual flush closet offers two buttons. Generally a 6 litre button for 350 grams of solids and a 4 .8 litre button for liquids. With most consumers concerned with water conservation and saving costs on their utility bill this is a logical approach. The down side of dual flush closets is that several dual flush closets have a low water level in the bowl. The bowl is often dirty and stained. Some consumers have even complained of odors due to splashing etc. One of the common statements in Australia is “they don’t sell very many plungers in North America but they sell alot of toilet brushes.”
The main plumbing fixture line I represent is Kohler. Kohler invests large amounts of funds and resources annually in R&D (research & development) perfecting and improving their products. Kohler water closets (as seen in the video) all flush 1000 grams of solids (3x more) and their technology rinses the bowl clean everytime. It does all this with the same amount of water that the dual flush toilet uses for its liquids flush. Kohler has so perfected their flushing technology that over the next few years, Dual Flush toilets will become a thing of the past just as the 13 litre flush closet from many years ago. Kohler toilets flush 1000 grams of solids leaving the bowls spotless with 4.8 litres of water. They offer a wide variety of styles and prices for all budgets and tastes. So if you are considering a Dual Flush closet consider a 4.8 litre Kohler flushing closet. You’ll have a great flushing ,clean closet that works while doing your part for water conservation and your savings. You can view Kohler’s quality plumbing products at the Kohler website. There are numerous video links demonstrating their flushing technology.
Thank you, T. Melnychuk – Marks Supply.
Howdy, i read your blog from time to time and i own a similar one and i was just
wondering if you get a lot of spam comments? If so how do you
protect against it, any plugin or anything you can recommend?
I get so much lately it’s driving me insane so any assistance is very
much appreciated.
Try WP-SpamShield Anti-spam https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-spamshield/
Its a free plugin and even though I haven’t had much time to give you a rating on it myself as I just discovered it, it does have almost a 5 star rating and 90,000+ downloads so it might be worth a try.
Hope it works for you!

Well done Tom. This is a very good explination of how a dual flush works and how the Kohler brand will replace it. As an engineer I am always looking fro products that will save both energy AND resourses. The Kohler brand is a cutting edge firm with many great products.
Very interesting blog, Tom! Looking forward to more insights from you and Jaytech!
